I love this food, I do ot frequently. I guess, my recipe is a bit simpler than one from Hanka Sawka, but please try, it looks delicious: culture.polishsite.us/articles/art377.htmlBeef Rolades - Recipe from Hanka's Table cookbook

Oh Jaga, when will you invte me by for dinner? YUM! Rolada is one of my favorites, a dish I learned about in Germany. It is enough to get me to thinking about my next trip to Europe... it will have to be sooner rather than later!

Jaga...what is your recipe. My best friend who is German made these one day when I went for a visit. This was my first time hearing of this dish. She made them with just a slice of bacon, pickle and german mustard. I was taking notes and when I came home made them for Oktoberfest theme dinner. Im not sure now if I wrote down instructions or this was made from memory at the time. I served potato dumplings and green beans with it. For dessert I found some apple struedel. It was a hit with my Polish relatives.

Chris, Kai, yes, my rolada is just like German rolada with the piece of pickle, bacon (or just onion) and the mustard. It is simple, the most time-consuming part is bind it with the thread. If we would ever have a meeting of Polish Forum Culture members I promise that I would prepare delicious rolada for you

Jaga ...you are on. I forgot to mention the onions. It sounds like our recipes are the same. Did you try to use toothpicks. Much quicker.

Hi all,
Just a little note. This is known in the USA as Beef Roladin and various recipes can be found on the net.
My wifes uncle, a Hapgood, claims this is a German origin food.
He has prepared this and it is delicious.

Probably correct in German origin. Also the Italians make braciola which is similar (at least to me it is) (rolled pork steak or beef with cheese and some use eggs (yuk) fried and thrown into the sauce..... yum.
