Impressive and intersting John. To my great regret I am not a Beta. As a teenager I wanted to become an architect. That was impossible for architecture you need math, physics and chemistry. So these formula's are science fiction for me too.

J.J.
Well now you have me at a loss, for math was my far worse subject in school. As with Pieter, my dreams were to attend mechanical engineering training after another two years with the fishing fleet. But, of course our respective lifes path way took us in a different direction.
Just as well, for it would have been my luck to have served on a ship that sank.

Hi John,
this is actually my piece of pie....except the last two equations. By the way, calculus was invented not only by Newton but also by Leibnitz. But Leibnitz was demonized by Newton and almost forgotten in his last years. German Leibnitz' symbols for differential equations were the one that are used currently in calculus class.
I was a calculus teacher... so at least I know my math. Euler was also an extremely smart guy and he invented so much in math like nobody else.
here is more about calculus controversy:

I am an Alpha, so I will stay out of Beta math affairs.
