Marcello Bacciarelli, was Polonized Italian, who still represented the Late Baroque. Apart from numerous portraits, he executed cycles of paintings which contained apologetic-historical programmes created jointly with the monarch. A group of large-format works, with themes chosen from the history of Poland, and decorating the Knights' Hall in the Royal Castle in Warsaw, was to become the embryo of Polish historical painting. Bacciarelli also held a Castle "painting school" which trained the next generation of already Polish artists. A complex of views of Warsaw, ascribed enormous documentary value, was painted for the Castle by the Venetian vedutiste Barnardo Bellotii, called as Canaletto. The needs of the court were also served by painters-decorators: Jan Bogumil Plersch and Jean Pillement. A separate place among these artists of foreign descent but deeply embedded in our culture, was held by Jan Piotr Norblin. artyzm.com/e_artysta.php?id=8www.malarze.com/artysta.php?id=4pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcello_Bacciarelli
