Eva, a daughter of Jerzy Kajetanski sent me more copies of paintings and memoirs of her father. this is just the first part. The press release by Poremski with paintings by Kajetanski is one of the most popular articles in our site: September 1939 - from Memories of Jerzy Kajetanski - Part I culture.polishsite.us/articles/art438.html

Great article Jaga. The part of the article that struck me the most was that fact that the weather was so cooperative for the Germans ( AKA Nazis's ). I have read before that Hitler called it " Nazi Weather". Why couldn't the Black Modonna brought rainy and muddy weather, it would have helped a lot.

George, but Germans just like French during Napoleon invasion had a hard time with Soviet weather. That means that their saints were helping them quite effective

Jaga, that would mean that Soviet saints are better or that God doesn't love the Polish much... For me September 1939 will always stay in memory as the month when my grandparents, newlyweds then, had to pack all their belongings and walk toward Warsaw. Of course they didn't reach Warsaw before the Germans. My grandpa was almost killed as Germans were accusing him of being Jewish - supposedly he had "Jewish looks". Fortunately they let him free.
Even now, after almost 70 years, I keep having dreams about it, where I'm afraid of war, have to leave my house, take the child rem and flee somewhere...
Are these genetic memories or I remember too much from the stories told wen I was a child?
Somehow I feel that the War will stay with the Polish forever.

Zooba...I believe they are only memories from too many stories told when you were a child. Somehow they left that instilled in you. At the time you were probably very impressionable and then to know first hand how your grandparents was treated helped to infuse these fears. I don't hink this is genetic at all. That is why it is so important when speaking with a child to becareful what is said for it stays with you all your life.

Jaga, that would mean that Soviet saints are better or that God doesn't love the Polish much... Zooba, I agree with you therefore my statement needs not to be taken seriously Referring to the war, I felt the same way. War was very deeply on my mind, I had bad dreams about war etc. My mother was 9 years old when the war started...

Bad weather would not have changed much. It would have still been difficut to defend a country against the German Juggernaut with cavalry, horse drawn artillery (my uncle Tadeusz Kajetanski took part) and inadequate air cover. My dad (Jerzy Kajetanski) had a conversation with General Boleslaw Wieniawa Dlugoszewski in 1938 where the latter said, "Polska niedlugo padnie," meaning, "Poland will fall soon." He knew what he was talking about.

But to be proper Prussian, may I suggest as a manner of Introduction: Welcom Eva, to the forum of {Polisch Culture Forum}. For I am very happy to welcom you here as a representative. For as you see, I am not Polisch, but German, in as so, will strenthgen our ties as human people. In representation, please to be you, enjoy with interchange with others as you wisch for exchange. Grüß Charles {Karl}

Thanks Karl, I agree with you that it's better to get to know each other and to find ways of living on this earth cooperatively rather than blasting each other to smithereens. It's more fun that way................Eva
