One more photo. I think this was taken in the US, although I am not sure where. Probably around Warren Pa. This was a Christmas postcard given to my Grandparents. The back says "Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, from Mr & Mrs J H Taylor." (I wish people would have dated things! I feel it must have been around the turn of the century.) My grandparents didn't fit in with the "upper-crust" so I wonder if there was a professional relationship, maybe a lawyer or such. Although there is no Polish connection other than being given to my grandparents, I think it is a wonderfully interesting photo. The man strikes me as a Teddy Roosevelt type.

Charles Charles, Thank you very much. Another family member is supposed to give me more that she isn't interested in and I hope for there to be more from Poland and the family in the "Old Country". I'm sure they would be of greater interest to the others. Mary

Mary, Great photos! Glad Chris was able to help with translation and Kai with location. As far as the ribbon, after much discussion and looking at different web pages - Wayne and I are now wondering if it is in fact a military decoration. For one it seems a big large and two, it isn't straight across the middle is cinched in - does that make sense? It also would help to be sure what the colors are for sure. I am assuming that they are red a white. If that is what they are it *could* be a badge that shows he served under one of the Hanseatic units (which would make sense with the Prussian uniform and the suspicion they were from Silesia).
I really like the last photo of the couple - with the woman holding the reins of the "car" and the guy holding the dog. Make me wonder what their home life was like! I have a vivid imagination at times!

So much was lost...I was 15 and 16 when my Polish Grandparents passed away, and at that time I never gave it a thought that I knew little of our history. Now there are only 1 aunt and 1 uncle left and I haven't been able to get much from them. It seems they either don't recall what their parents passed down or they never were told a whole lot. I'm glad you liked that last picture. I hesitated about posting it because I know of no Polish connection. I think I found a soul mate in you, I can tell you have a passion for the past like I do. Wayne too! Tell him I have some old medals from WWII, some German, and when I find the time I will get them out, take some pictures and he can help me if he'd like to identify them. As I recall, one is of Hitlers Youth troops, I just don't recall right now what it's called. Mary

This is my Grandparents Wedding picture. She was just 17 and had known Grandpa only a few days when they wed. From then on, they were never apart until his death. She died about a year later and that whole year she just kept saying she wanted to be with grandpa. This is them in their later years. I'm not sure when it was taken.
