via Radio Polonia www.polskieradio.pl/zagranica/news/artykul78473_Mementoes_of_legendary_WW2_pilot_to_come_to_Warsaw.html"Mementoes of legendary WW2 pilot to come to Warsaw 20.03.2008 Mementoes of one of the pilots of Poland’s legendary WW2 Flight Squadron 303, general Witold Urbanowicz, have been presented in New York to director of the Warsaw Army Museum, professor Janusz Cisek. Professor Cisek received among others a decorative pistol, medals and photographs belonging to the squadron leader. The memorabilia will be shown at a special exhibition for the pilot’s 100th birth anniversary on March 30th. Witold Urbanowicz was one of the best pilots in the Battle of Britain, shooting down 17 Nazi planes but never taking a single shot himself. In 1943 he joined the US airforce with the so-called “Flying Tigers” 75th squadron. After the war he settled in New York. He died in 1996."
