Dutch F-35s intercept Russian formation over PolandTHE HAGUE (ANP) - Monday 13 februari 2023 the Dutch armed forces intercepted three Russian military aircraft in Poland. The planes flew in formation. Two Dutch F-35s have searched, identified and escorted them, reports the Ministry of Defense.Dutch F-35s intercept Russian formation over Poland © Copyright ANP 2023According to the Dutch Ministry of Defence, the Russian aircraft were an Il-20M (also called Coot-A) and two SOe-27s (Flankers). The Coot-A is designed as a spy plane, the Flankers are more modern fighter jets. They would have flown from Kaliningrad to Poland and been "on the border". The Dutch aircraft "remotely escorted" them and after some time handed them over to another NATO country. According to the Ministry of Defence, they never flew above Russia.
Since this month, eight Dutch F-35s have been in Poland, four of which are deployed to guard the airspace above the NATO country. According to the Ministry of Defence, the other four are there for training purposes, although they can also be used if necessary. According to the armed forces, it is the first time that the Dutch aircraft carried out such an interception (a so-called Quick Reaction Alert) during the two-month mission.

Jaga,
I think it was in the border area or in the Kalinngrad area. The Dutch Airforce is present there from the perspective of NATO cooperation. NATO allies are in Poland with ground troops, anti-aircraft facilities, tanks, armoured vehicles, rocket systems and Airplanes and Fighter Yets like the Dutch ones.
