There are some impatient idiot compatriots. I really have to say that German drivers are better and more polite drivers on Dutch highways than Dutch drivers.
The Angry Dutch people often say 'Wat een mongool zeg', which means, 'Say, what a Mongolian', saying in Dutch (degratory), "What an idiot!"

A crowded rather densly populated country with some over heated people. Thank god most people drive decent.

I don't really know Dutch rural roads but I don't think that Dutch drivers are worse than in other countries. Accidents happen as Pieter said the road rage is everywhere.

It is difficult to understand the mind set of some people as drivers, and perhaps it is good not to know. Many situations are perhaps at fault of the multitude of factors of these accidents which are not accidents, but results of reckless and negligent driving. Autos do not cause accidents, but drivers do, it is a manner of human frailty at work.
But then, the above much better than horse transportation, imagine slipping on horse poop and breaking an arm, or having a horse peeing on your wife with her Sunday dress whilst sitting in your buggy.
