Perhaps I am in the wrong book on the wrong page, but do not agree with the killing of this lone wolf. And yes, I am prolife to a great extent, age does this to us and myself am not different.
This wolf is following what nature gave it for survival and that is the instinct of hunting and killing to eat and live. It is of course a shame of those sheep killed for no reason as the wolf could not eat that many in number. It amounts to the hunt, chase and kill, with this, of course the sheep once observing they are in danger will run and that triggers the predator chase.
But, this is simply my own personal intrinsic feelings for how ever it may be.

Dear Karl, Many people in the Netherlands share your opinion. Others do not. NOS News • Today, 00:29 • Updated today, 10:01 Reports against mayor and farmer to kill wolf Two nature organizations are filing a complaint against the farmer who was injured yesterday in Wapse (Drenthe) after a collision with a wolf and against the mayor of Westerveld, which includes Wapse. Last night, the Fauna Protection, an organization that advocates leaving wild animals alone and is against hunting, announced the declaration on its own website. This morning, animal rights organization Animal Rights issued a similar report. Animal Rights is also considering filing a complaint against the deputy mayor who was involved yesterday in the decision to shoot the wolf and against the officer who fired the shot, writes the ANP news agency. The organization argues that the shooting of the wolf violates the Habitats Directive, in which wolves are designated as a protected species. According to the Fauna Protection, the mayor "had no right" to have the wolf shot. The animal protection organization also states that the incident was not an attack by a wolf on a human, but the other way around. "Anyone who is unwise enough to attack a predator with a pitchfork and a shovel can expect the animal to feel threatened and to defend itself," says the Fauna Protection about the hobby farmer's actions. The farmer found out yesterday morning that a number of his sheep had been bitten to death. He wanted to chase the wolf away and was then bitten. After treatment at the hospital, he was able to go home the same day. 'Protocol not followed' The wolf was found in a meadow under solar panels after the collision, according to the Fauna Protection. "The protocol, to judge whether a wolf has attacked people and then has to be killed, has not been followed at all. The mayor had no right to order anyone to shoot the wolf. And the police had should know and verify before firing." The mayor of Westerveld, Rikus Jager, said yesterday that he "could not" but have the wolf shot. "We haven't found yet to call an expert, but we can't do that so early." According to Jager, people had to be admitted quickly because people's safety was at stake. "The wolf attacked a human, that was the deciding factor in our decision." As far as is known, this is the first time a human has been bitten since the wolf returned to the Netherlands in 2018. The animal species had not been seen in our country since 1869. The wolf is a protected species. Killing, capturing or capturing specimens is therefore prohibited. This leads to protests from farmers, who can do so little against attacks on their livestock. Original source; nos.nl/artikel/2482214-aangiftes-tegen-burgemeester-en-boer-om-doden-wolf

It was very considerate of you with your reply with including the video of a group of wolves trotting past the trail camera, it included also one wolf inspecting the camera. Also of the professional response of those of Animal rights and the wolf protection laws as wolves' area protected species, I was not aware of this until you have brought this forward..
Whilst replying above, it came to me that in my entire life whilst my entrance into the woods, I have never seen a wolf which means not that they likely might have seen me, who knows.. With this, I am not sure if we had wolves in Denmark when I was a child.
