It used to be that mainly Americans, Australians, a Swede or German and French won big tennis games, now there is more and more Eastern European players, Djokovic from Serbia is a national hero, there is Medvedev. Among women the world tennis is DOMINATED by women: Swiatek from Poland, Sabalenka from Belarus and Rybakina - a Russian from Kazakhstan. Additionally Marketa Vondrousova won the finals and she was outside the main rank. She is the 4th woman tennis player from Chech republic to get to the finals. Remember famous star Martina Navratilova? She was among the audience. Non-slavic women like Jabeur from Tunisia became a rarity.

Pieter, Slavic players have last names difficult to pronounce for people who don't know Slavic languages. So there is a good way for the rest of the world to learn beauty of Slavic words I am happy for Swiatek that she continues to be number 1. She does not do well with grass unfortunately.
