Hello Pieter, this guy is telling only about good aspects of living in Saudi Arabia, but omits brutal truth about how women are treated and construction workers etc..

Jaga has an excellent point in the manner of treatment of women. There is the situation that is not Christian, and that is the law of Sharia.

Dear Jaga,
Sometimes I post this kind of topics for replies as yours.
Again I point at the principle of audi alteram partem is a principle from jurisprudence and journalism that means that if someone is accused, they must listen to what the accused has to say before they are judged. It is one of the general principles of due process. We call it 'Hoor en wederhoor' in Dutch, meaning 'Hear and hear both sides'.
This is the quality of this Forum and that's why I love it.
I hope that like in the Christian and secular liberal Humanist and moderate conservative West Reforms, transformationn in time, an emancipation proces in the Arab, Iranian, North African, Muslim Black African, Afghan, Pakistani, Indian Muslim, Indonesian, Malaysian, and the entire Muslim world will bring emancipation, Muslim Feminism and more equality for Muslim women in the Muslim world.
Cheers, Pieter

Jaga,
Sometimes I look at the world to much as an old masculine, Patriarchal, 16th century and 17th century (Dutch Independence Struggle, Liberation fight with the Spanish, The Eighty Years war 1568-1648, Dutch Golden Age) the 18th and 19th centuries and the 20th century perspective to the world. I am rooted in the 20th century and grew up during the Cold War, late seventies and early eighties recession and a rather old Fashionate Patriarchal dad and a dominant Polish mother. That shaped me as a person.
Sometimes I forget the Female, women, women's right and equality perspective when I look at the Middle East, and look to much at it with Geopolitical, valuable raw materials, oil and gas (prices), military and diplomatic perspective. Like Saoudi Arabia in a strange developments moved closer to it's arch rival in the Muslim and Arab world, Iran, which has a large influence on Shia Muslim Arabs, will Saoudi Arabia is the champion of Sunni Muslim Arabs and non-Arab Sunni Muslims world wide. Saoudi Arabia is the center of the Islamic world due ton Meccah and Medina, the Holiest places in Islam. The third Most holy place in Islam is Jerusalem. Also Saoudi Arabia moves closer to Israel and probably wants to join the Abraham Accords soon.
Wether a liberalisation, reform and moderation of Islam will take place in the near future time will tell us. Also if the position of women within Islam and Muslim societies and countries will improve. Tensions within Europe about Islam and Muslim migrants are focussed exactly on that point. In Europe women are equal like in America, Canada, Australia and New Zeeland.
Cheers, Pieter
