Polish news are centered on elections on Sunday. Unfortunately Law and Justice party may win since they have all governmental mass media for them. Today big news - resignation of top generals. www.theguardian.com/world/live/2023/oct/10/poland-polarised-election-campaign-crucial-vote-liveTwo senior military commanders resign just days before crucial election in which conservative ruling party faces Donald Tusk’s opposition Critics of the ruling Law and Justice party argued that the resignations were partly the outcome to the politicisation of the armed forces by the current government. Jakub Jaraczewski, a research coordinator at Democracy Reporting International, said that smaller parties stole the show at last night’s election debate. Robert Biedroń, a member of the European parliament from Poland’s opposition New Left, told the Guardian that the Left’s candidate “performed brilliantly” in the debate. With only days until Poles vote, candidates across the political spectrum encouraged supporters to maintain their energy.

Jaga,
I just hope that Poles will vote for unity in staid of division.

Pieter, i wish, but there are so many divisions especially between Law and Order and Tusk Citizen Coalitions. Here is a good article about Polish ellections: www.cnbc.com/2023/10/13/polands-elections-are-a-crossroad-for-eu-solidarity-and-ukraine-support.htmlPoland’s elections this weekend could mark a crossroad for EU solidarity — and Ukraine support KEY POINTS Polish elections on Oct. 15 pit the incumbent right-wing Law and Justice party, which has fallen out with Ukraine over grain exports and sparred with the EU, against a coalition led by former European Council President Donald Tusk. Tusk has pledged to reverse controversial judicial and abortion reforms and said support for Ukraine is crucial, but he faces an uphill battle in a vote set to be tightly-contested. “At stake is the future of Poland’s democratic institutions, the country’s place in the European Union, and the general direction of the country’s foreign policy,” researchers at U.S. think tank GMF say.

John, yes, the elections are forcing PIS out of the power which is probably good, since they were too long, they become very rigid and too many people got a lot of money through their corruptive system of power- for so called state monopolies.
The new government would consist of three minority parties together in a coalition government.
