Should guests be able to post in the forum?

Guys please vote,
we can change it any minute. Personally I do not think it is a good idea to let unregistered people to post messages but since we are in a transition period - maybe we should allow it for some short time? What do you think?

;D I voted no and agree with you Jaga. Some of those guest might include those invaders from the Undiscovered Planet plus a few unregulated viruses.

Bob, thanks so much for your opinion. I still would like quests to be able to vote into the polls but not really to post messages since we do not know who they are?!

I voted no, because we want to know who our friends are!

Nancy, I understand your "twisted" point Although in the beginning I had a hard time But let me keep this option open so that GUESTS would be able to vote in this poll at least!

Dear Jaga, I also voted no. It is ok to preview the forum, this as to the content and if, they feel comfortable with it as a guest. Then join as trusted members. At least in this manner, you do have control of who and what is placing input withen your domaine.
There are folks out there, with intent and malice, to place into effect, a fishing trip, so to speak, to locate and identify regestered members for what ever reason they may have.
Perhaps maybe, I am being a bit over suspicious, but, then, perhaps not so.
To be cautious, is a vertue, to be careless, is a sin. This will in time over take all that you have done.
Just a thought

Charles,
thank you so much for your thoughts! I agree with you, we donot want this forum to be the closed forum but we want to trust each other and prevent any malice....
I just logout for a minute to check whether I can vote in the poll. Unfortunately I could not, so I changed the board and now not registered people cannot post anything here.

I voted YES. If we encounter any problems then we could make posting possible for registered users only. Some may want to respond and add something to one particular topic or ask just one question. Asking people to register often prevents them from posting at all. Again: if there are problems like spam or malice registering could be imposed.

Asking people to register often prevents them from posting at all. Again: if there are problems like spam or malice registering could be imposed. I agree with Forza. 1. I voted YES because I am against all kinds of restriction, limit and censorhip imposed by the board of trustees on little ones. 2. Some of us (including me) had problems with registering here. Our guests will have these problems too what will make them reluctant not only to post here but also visit us at all. I can say it from my experience. Whenever I have to register somewhere, I give up unless I really need to enter. But such cases of necessity are rare, so many sites have lost a potential guest in me because I wasn`t interested in them enough to go through a long registration process. 3. It is admin and moderator`s job to control any unwanted intrusions by freaks, maniacs or terrorists. But such people rarely visit such forums as ours, I suppose. All in all, there is no need to introduce such advanced safety measures as the requirement of registration. I am against it, always will be.

Well I posted something earlier today as a quest without realizing I was in here as a guest. I just login from my bookmark and up till now was considered registered. So lets see if this comes up as quest. Most boards I go to You must be a registered memeber so I think I will stick with no guest.

Hi all, I followed the link here to this new forum from Bella.
I voted to allow only registered people to post. I've never actually seen any forum where unregistered people can post; those who are not registered can only read messages, nothing more.

Should guests be able to post in the forum? I did not realize they could post here. From the beginning I could not post without logging in, so I assumed guest could not either. Ideally anyone could post, but sooner or later some troll will come and invade us. Unless it is possible to fully shut out such people then it must be controlled form the beginning. Sad, but apparently true. Kai

Should guests be able to post in the forum? Hi Jaga I have voted neither yes nor no. Reason: 1. I think guests should be allowed to read, but not post messages for many of the views already expressed 2. But I think there should be a 'honeymoon' period as two of us made the 'mistake' of posting having forgotten to register or in my case, the site messing up my registration so I came out as guest - but at least my posting went through. How about a month's honeymoon period and then, with due notice, restrict to members onyl for posting? Leslie
