That is terribly difficult question for anybody who didn't attend Polish school. If I'm not wrong the song was sung before the battle of Grunwald - perhaps this will help you.

;D Way too easy for me but does anybody care to translate into English the first sentence ever written in polish language. I mean: the first according to records we have in our archive.

Hi Gwemboko stugenko - G³êboka studzienko = deep well (well for the water, not well = good) The oldest song in "B.............a", Written in XIII century - probably. Sung right before entering battle. The first sequence written in polish is "Day ut ia pobrusa, a ti poziwai" in little bit modern polish: "Daj aæ ja pobrusze a ty poczywaj" In english = "Let me mill [the grain] and you rest" Hej Forza, did I passed? It may be their side..not your side regarding sound. My speakers and sound ore on the max.

Chris,
thank you so much! I thought that my speakers were with the highest volume but probably not. Anyways, I could hear it quite good now. I really recommend everybody to hear its real audio version with the choir of men singing.
This is really a famous Polish song, so I believe if you never heard about it - it is a time to learn!

This is really a famous Polish song, so I believe if you never heard about it - it is a time to learn! Hmm, it depends. If you mean its historical importance, I agree. This is a famous song. Students learn about it at school. But it isn`t so popular to be sung in Poland today. I suppose there are few people who know it by heart.

Chris, Gleboka studzienka, gleboka kopana A przyniej Kasienka, jakby malowana. Stala przy studzience, wode nabierala O swoim kochanku, Jasienku myslala. There was this farm girl who went to the well to get water. The well was dug very deep. And next to the well stood this little girl named Kasienka. She was all painted up and dressed up. She stood next to the well and was drawing water all the time thinking about her Jasienku.
Zebym cie Jasienku w wodzie zobaczyla Tobym do studzienki, za toba skoczyla. Naprzod bym rzucila, ten bialy wianeczek. Com se go uwila, ze samych rozeczek. Gleboka studzienko, czy nam do cie skoczyc. If I could only see your face in the water, to be with you I would jump into the well. But. before that I would throw in my white wianeczek. Along with that I would also throw in a rose. Deep well, can I jump into you?
Tesknie za Jasienkiem, Zycie sobie skrocic Nie skocze do ciebie, studzienko bleboka Zadaleko do dna I zimna twa woda. And for you Jasienkiem, I owe my life. But I have decided not to jump in after you. It is too close to daytime and the water is too cold.
Ucaluje listek szeroki debowy, razem zpozdrowoeniem. Wrzuce go do wody. Zanies go studzienko, do Jasienka mego. Powiedz mu odemnie, ze czekam na niego. Deep well tell Jasienku that I am waiting for him.
