One more thing: If you buy a public insurance for yourself, your wife and or kids are also included in the insurance.

The average price for a house in the suburbs of San Diego is now $620,000.00 The size of this house can be from 1800 - 2400 square feet. $620,000.00 OH MY GOD here for $100.000,00 you can buy a newly build house. For $150.000,00 you can buy a realy big house with garden. For $620.000,00 you can buy half of neighborhood including police station and local grocery. . Of course closer the large city - price getting higher, but they are still lower than yours. I will better stay here. YAnc

In my part of UK, a small town 12 miles from the city of Sheffield - a medium-to lower-priced area of England - a 3 bedroomed semi-detached house (say 20 years old) with gardens front and back, garage and rear patio before the grass etc. would cost in the region of 100,00 GBP, ie about 600, 000 PLN or $170,000. In the same small town on the same estate, a four-bedroomed, detached house with the same amenities would cost about 160,000 GBP = $270,000 = 960,000 PLN. In a newer, smaller, more secluded estate a 3-bedroom detached bungalow can cost from 200,000 GBP = $340,000 = 1,200,000 PLN. Of course, in the South of England, even away from London, you can x2 to 3 those prices, and in London x6 to 8 at least (it depends the area in London and the distance from the centre). My 3-bedroom semi with all the above has recently been valued at 120,00 GBP = $204,000 = 720,000 PLN. so I couldn't afford to move to the South of England, definitely not move to USA, and as I would have to give my ex-wife 55,000 GBP if I sold the house, leaving me 65,000 GBP, I could just about manage to buy something reasonable in Poland? I think they will take me out of this house in a box!!!! Leslie

Yanc,
I am going to build a house up north. About 152 km north west of Warszawa. It's on the farm land my parents came from. Nearest city is Rypin which is east of Torun. The village is Okalewo. I don't need a police station yet ; ))

I think I will buy insurance. I am looking at house plans from Archeton and Archipelig. One from Archeton is Kaprys 180,000PLN the other form Archipelig is Grazyna 160,000PLN. I am going to visit the office of these firms when I am in Wawszawa.
Thanks for the health care link.

But of course, prices vary depending on location in the USA. Prices in the middle of the country are much less - average price there is probably around $200,000. Also the housing market right now is very inflated, so at some point prices will probably come down a bit. I am so glad we bought our home several years ago, when prices were more normal. There is no way we could afford to buy a home here today.

Yanc/Suzane,
And the lot is small about 60X90 feet. They are building new homes by me that are starting at $650,000.00 That is why when I retire I have to move somewhere. Can' afford the house payment here.

Or of our little miserly earnings? Pawian, is that you Jerzy from the before-life? This "ha, ha, ha" made me thinking. Yes. Your woman`s intuition tells you correctly. I am Jerzy. I used this name in my previous life. But in this forum I live a new life. Does it make a difference?

Here in Idaho you can buy the house by the same price as in Poland (100 thousands dollars), but people earn a bit more

Jim, be careful with the company you'll hire to build you the house. Since you're a foreigner, an AMERICAN even, i'm almost sure they'll try to chaet on you. You'll need a building supervisor to check upon them. You might also do it yourself but unless you know the market and prices for services in Poland you might be an easy target. Building a house is a big strategic operation - I was going through that for two years. Fortunately, I've survived.

Zooba,
I have my family in Poland helping me with the company that would built a house. I will have them supervise when I am not there. In fact they are building one now for threir daughter. But I appreciate the advise. I know being a foreigner is a disadvantage in this effort.
