I have enough hobbies and interests to fill several lifetimes! In the past I've done needlework of pretty much every kind, including sewing clothes, but all I do nowadays is cross-stitch and knitting. I make scrapbook-type albums with family photos and I am planning on starting genealogy albums. I am beginning to do some genealogy of my mother's side of the family (she has some Polish roots in her background, and I'm trying to find exactly who her Polish ancestors were and where they came from). Languages fascinate me and I'm currently interested in Polish and Hungarian and would also like to learn a little more Italian. I like writing and reading (esp. nonfiction things such as history and environmental issues). I love to cook, and bake in particular, and if I have enough time next spring/summer, I'd like to start a small organic vegetable garden.

;D Chris, Nancy and suzannem. I posted some more of my hobbies (cross-stitching) at: community.webshots.com/user/wb4rffNancy you might be interested in one of the cross stitches because it is for a Family Tree. I did a lot more of this type of work but gave them away to some friends and family. ;D

The framed Boy and girl, The family Tree patterns came from a magizine that went out of publication many years ago. The Angels came from a booklet that I picked up at a hobby shop and there are still three different ones to make. Who needs a pill to calm the nerves when you have cross-stitching that does the same thing?

Yes, cross-stitching is very calming. Actually, doing any kind of detail work with my hands is calming for me.

Nancy and suzannem. Thank you very much for the compliments. I cannot paint (oils and water colors) and my musical ability is nil but this is one art form I can do. Cross-stitching is an old artform and I have seen antique samplers that date back to the early 1800's. When a project is started time just seems to fly by and the hardest part is putting down your work to take a break. The one thing I like about this hobby is that the cost in money is low once you start.
