If you have more time than you know what to do with or you are retired and still have more time than you know what to do with, than please stop in and say hello. Some of the things I do are Stamp Collecting, Model Ship Building (wooden), Electronics (radio), a bit of Digital Photography, Some Astronomy, Cross-Stitching and miscellaneous other things. Now, You guys in the forum may laugh at cross-stitching but I have found that this is a very good way to calm the nerves, slow down and relax, besides, it's cheaper than taking a pill and you have something to show for your efforts. So, drop in, say hello kick back a bit and maybe we can share some ideas. I know that all of you have a thing or two that you do in your spare time such as flying over Tundras and skinning Kodiak Bears to make wallets or Home-Brew Vodka in Poland. SHARE WITH US..........OR ELSE! ;D ;D

Bob, I have no spare time because in addition to working (for pay), I have the following interests: quilting (cross-stitch was a long time ago), photography, genealogy, reading, gardening, helping Jaga with the website and forum, co-directing a big quilt show to be held in August as a fundraiser for the New England Quilt Museum, learning a bit of Polish, and last but not least, not cleaning the house.

What do I do....it seems like nothing lately. (thanks to my PC and my addictive nature to it) When I had less time I seemed to get more accomplished or so I thought. I have in my lifetime, knitted, crocheted, painted, sculpted, photography, learning about making a website, cross stitched, needlepointed, rug hooked (the real old fashioned way with wool strips), paper crafted., quilted.......you name it I probably have done it. If I see something I admire I like to try and learn how to do it. And like Nancy..who has time to clean the house...it only gets dirty again....LOL.

There are people who collect match books and even string. When I was in Spain I wanted to collect wine bottle labels but I finally settled for stamps. Today there are protective covers to protect almost any thing that you have as a collection. Another thing, some collections can demand a very high price. I have a booklet cover for American Ration coupons that was issue during WW2. A girl collection? Hmmm! I think my wife would object to that VERY STRONGLY. ;D

[ Bob S, I'm not retired but I do woodcarving, scrollsawing, oil painting, calligraphy, karate, aikido, walking. I walk quite a bit with my two labs. And of course learing languages. ] Hey Jim, do you use those special knife types for your wood carving? I saw a set from Smokey Mountain Knife Works that were very expensive but I bet the blades were of good quality. Scrollsawing is an artform. I saw a few examples of some work in a magazine and it was very impressive. As for the Labs, what great dogs. They love to play and have a huge amount of energy. The only problem I see with Labs is that they have a little too much muscle and weight to play with some children. ;D

When I do cross-stitching I use 28CT to 32CT linen and in one case I used 150+CT to make a table spread. I think of my computer as only a machine but it does need a lot of attention (almost like a baby). ;D

Bob, I use various carving knives depending on the piece. I did a wolf head using a 400,000 rpm drill and it came out very nice. Other I use various chisels etc. Lately its been a lot of scrollsawing.

I"m into history: American, Polish, and military. I collect old military rifles (many Russian), and build American Longrifles (flintlock rifles) of the colonial era. I too dabble in languages, but am far more serious in trying to learn Polish: reading, writing and speaking. Since most of my contact with my Polish family is through letters and they don't speak any English, it's up to me to learn Polish. I coached girls soccer (football to our European friends) for many years, now retired (from coaching). I like to cook, and have done my share of sewing (sewed my Tipi) and until I broke my digital camera in Poland, digital photography. I hunt deer and elk in the WY Rocky Mountains about every other year with my home made rifles.
