I took this picture in May 2000, in Boston. What parade was I watching? What is the name of the ship?

This is Dar Mlodziezy for sure. ... or the Pogoria www.pogoria.pl/info.php"In 2000 "Pogoria" successfully completed the Tall Ships 2000 on the route Genoa - Cadiz - Bermuda - ports on the eastern coast of the US - Boston - Halifax - Amsterdam. ... Since 1999/2000 the ship has been operated in Winter in the Mediterranean from the base in Genoa in cooperation with STA Italia." the dar Mlodziezy is supposed to be twice the size of the Pogoria.

We had tall ships here in Rochester, some time ago and a Polsih ship also. But I don't think it was that one above.

There is a lot publicity about this event. It is taken quite seriously here and seen as a chance to promote town. Szczecin is 60 km away from Baltic Sea but many Poles think it is actually by the sea. The ever popular joke here is about tourist asking for way to the beach and getting "take a streetcar number 13" answer (we have only 1 to 12) There are always crowds when some ships sail into town so I'd say it won't be different in 2007 and we should get national media coverage over this event. The town has created some official committee to get us ready with some serious funds to make it all look good. It is July 2007 so there is plenty of time to get excited still. Szczecin has identity problem as town in general and Tall Ships' Race is I think an attempt to give this town some sea port status. The other concept is capitalize on closeness to Berlin (Germany) which is only 1.5 hour drive away. Super fast train to Berlin is a dream here. Also our airport has ambitions to get some traffic. We got daily flights to London from here but as I said ...Berlin and its two huge airports are very close to us so: do we need an airport here? I doubt! Now we have daily flights to London (for 50 Euros) and to Krakow with stopover in Warsaw (for 125 Euros).... We have a president that doesn't like German investment in town and who is an enemy of any new supermarkets as well. Every Ikea product we have to drag from Poznan The town itself is pretty though and has lots of trees. Many 'rondos' make it a nightmare for drivers who get lost often. There's a film about town (in English!) made for Tall Ships Race event (17MB in DivX format). Youcan get it from there: www.szczecin2007.pl/film.htm
