Rdyw..... (otherwise known as 'enquiring mind' or 'Nosey'!). Although I was born in the northern part of Scotland (by accident), my Scottish forebears were Lowland Scots (just over the border from England - otherwise knowm as Sassenach country). Lowland Scots do not wear the plaid or kilt, instead they wear 'trews' (trousers) of tartan. I usually am seen in jeans! Now you are more knowledgeable of Scottish traditions. I saw your location map - what a funny collection of names - Scottish, South American to name but two! I'd have to go back to the map again to complete the list. Have a good weekend Leslie (a Scottish clan) Rae (the Scottish clan MacRae) and a middle name 'William' - I think it was brought over by William the Conqueror who had such a disastrous and nasty demise when it was his turn to go.

Dear Rdyw.... I've had another look at this wonderful map you posted - I think you must be the extraterrestrial and Rochester is on Mars!. Who else would have places/areas named from Indian words, Sicilian words, Norwegian words, at least two South American words, a poet, the old name for Scotland, an old English Queen's name, Latvian, Greek, English, a major hotel, a farmyard field entrance, Canadian city, German river - and that's just some without extending the map!!! Nice map! Rochester is well laid out for volume exit and entry into the core centre of the city. A double wheel round about with inner loop comprised of #590 and outer wheel of #104.
Looks like the city is designed as a people place with many green belts, several country clubs and various golf clubs and area parks. Looks like a nice place to live.
Do you guys get those cold winter lake winds there?
I spent some years back, 3 months on a temporary job assignment in Cincinnati, and boy I thought my skine was going to fall off with that cold winter Ohio wind..
Other then the Ohio trip, my knowledge of the area east of Idaho is extremely sketchy to very little.

That was a good mape of Arnhem, easy to navagate over. Do you live in or about the green area?
The north end of the map appears to be heavy industrial.

Thank you Charles. It is really very easy to navigate the city with our expressways. The inner loop takes us around downtown area and the 390,490,590 takes us east west, north ,south. Our weather is affected by the lake affect snow but compared to Syracuse (which is a dumping ground for snow (they always get snow) or Buffalo who always seems to get hit also we are far better off than they. It is currently 28F and quiet. Earlier it was a snowin and a blowin like Arctic Pole. If I did not have to drive in it Iwould not mind it at all.

Leslie Rochester is in AMERICA, Lesie, and lots of areas here have a real mixture of place names from many cultures. Variety is the spice of life!

That is quite an area you live in, very rural, few roadways and very mountainous. Looks like an area that would be easy to become lost in and enjoy not being found....

My Dear Leslie
Did not your mother so long in past tell you: leave the people alone!!! Haaa, just jestting with you Lesie.
Actually I was rechecking one of your post of your background. You are a very historical person, are you aware of that? For instance, how many folks would have known the kilt and the pants situation, I had not a clue....
Some time you must tell all, England is very historical, and I rather suspect, your forebears had some thing to do with it.

We had once a girl from Botswana (Africa) participating in the forum, as for Asians... they contact us when they feel in love with some Polish jerks like this last girl from CHina if you remember Jaga, Do I detect a touch of sarcasm there. Jerk ? Many, many years ago I fell in love with a beautiful woman of Chinese, Japanese, Hawaiian extraction. When I came home she, on occasion, would dance the Hula. Her beautiful blue-black hair came all the way down to her buns. This didn't pan out as I found out that she was married to a person who was working on another island in the Pacific. 35 years later I received a phone call from a person who claimed she was my daughter. As it turned out she was right. Her stepfather, on his deathbed, told her I was her father. We communicated and she came here for a visit. It was absolutely beautiful. I had no idea. My wife at the time was 14 years old. She did not have a problem with this except how I was going to react. Now I have a beautiful daughter, son-in-law and three great grandkids who are native Hawaiians and are absolutely beautiful. My only regret is that I probably will never see them before I die. So, the moral of this long story is, not all Polacks who date Chinese women are jerks !!!!!! unless you consider me one .
