Poland: 22 police officers injured in clashes with Serbs in Kosovo 2008-03-17 12:02:08 - WARSAW, Poland (AP) - Polish national police say 22 officers on duty in Kosovo have been injured in clashes with Serbs in the city of Kosovska Mitrovica. National police spokesman Mariusz Sokolowski says 15 Polish police have been taken to a French-run hospital while the other seven are being taken out of the area. Wounded police return to Poland
19.03.2008 09:25 Four Polish UN policemen wounded in the flashpoint town of Mitrovica in north Kosovo returned to Poland onboard of a governmental plane last night.
In Kosovar hospitals remain ten Polish officers. Deputy PM Grzegorz Schetyna, who was in Kosovo yesterday, assured that their lives are not in danger.
Twenty eight Polish policemen were hurt during an attempt by the UN forces to regain control of a United Nations court from Serb protesters in Mitrovica, Kosovo Monday morning.
The UN forces were attacked by protesters gathered outside the court building with stones, hand grenades and home made explosives.
Among the wounded were also 14 Ukrainian policemen, of whom one died yesterday; as well as eight soldiers of the French NATO forces contingent, who came as police backup. (jm)
