My family were members of the PNCC My Great-Grandfather was involved and Great-Grandmother Tekla was a nun. Site contains really good historical data on marriage etc. The PNCC is I believe the only church that has communion with the RC and most others. www.pncc.org/Hope you learn something new. Tim

I remember how surprised I was that the Polish national Catholic Church was created in the US. But I understand their background - the Irish and German hierarchy was not friendly towards Polish speaking immigrants.
Tim, thanks for the reminder!

Couple of interseting things about beliefs in the PNCC. They don't belief in the continuing punishment of " Original Sin"! They have the advantage of not getting blamed for Eve taking bite out of the apple. Just about everything from war to tight underwerar has been blamed on original sin for so long. Also, artificial contreception is not a sin according to the PNCC. At least they have more common sense then its main counterpart

At least they have more common sense then its main counterpart so, it looks like they are a bit more liberal or they diverge in the Protestant arena. Probably the years of Polish pope were difficult for Polish Catholic Church but now it is revitalized by closing Polish Roman--Catholic parishes.

Jaga..Last year a local TV news did a piece on the PNCC here in Albany ny. What was interesting about the piece was they intervied several parishoners and discovered a healthy percentage of them were not Polish or Polish American. Many stated that they liked its more liberal leanings and the fact that the priests were allowed to marry. I think the PNCC had to be at least somewhat different or they never would have survived. By being more flexable, it seems to have insured its viability for some time to come.
