How do you like it? Marek is just testing the new website. www.polishsite.umarek.ca it has still lots of Latin, do not worry about it!

I love it......tell Marek he has done an excellent job. This was long overdue. (I know about the Latin...it is used for setting up webpages before launched to help in the design of things...I think that was a topic on the forum a long time ago. Charles I think clued us in when we got some foreign spam)
Marek...you are the "bomb" ;D

Marek promised to visit us in the forum this week. Here is what he wrote to me in the e-mail message:When you look at the site, or rather the main home page, keep in mind that this is not connected to content - it's just a layout with design. Next week I will work on transporting that design into CMS and adding content. Some elements are dependent on Java script so if your browser asks you if you want to enable dynamic content, just say yes. About the layoutThe layout is meant to provide a clear and not overwhelming view of the content on the site and what the site is about. I divided the site into three horizontal divs (header, main, and footer). I also divide the header and main into left and right. I placed the site navigation, search box, and date on the right as opposed to left, because despite the fact that many websites do the opposite, I find that right hand navigation is more intuitive - this is where the mouse and cursor is. Your welcome message is in the center of the page, as that is the first spot where eyes land on the page, then they move naturally to the right, where again, is the navigation. Left column is for announcements and extras that we can change if you want. I gave new articles the central column. Note, that there are some small differences in how different browsers view content, and once I will work with CMS I will resolve those issues. About colorsI used only three colours and their different tones. The site is rich with content and more colors would make it too busy. I used white (off-white), red (or actually a wine color), and charcoal for text. When you read about color psychology, those colors express sophistication, maturity, good taste, which is what I was hoping the visitors will feel when they come to the site. Additional colors for the site is provided by images. Just a word about navigationSince this is only a design, only the first item in navigation works, to show you what I had in mind and how the entire menu will work once I put the design and content into CMS and database. This is also why we need to scale down on headings and subheadings. Even with the accordion menu, which expends and collapses to show or hide subheadings, the subjects have to be combined and renamed into a shortest form possible. Well... Here is the link: www.polishsite.murban.ca/Let me know what you think, what would you like to see changed, etc.

Hello, My name is Marek Urban and I am the current designer and website developer for the Polish Site. Please provide us with any comments and suggestions regarding the new website design for the Polish Site. I will take all your suggestions under advisement in consultations with Jagoda. We hope that the transfer of the static content into a database and the new design for the website will be completed by the end of June. We will continue to test the site after that time for at least a month and would appreciate any reports of error messages or problems with display in a particular browser. Cheers! Marek Ps. No, I am not related to Jagoda

I like the idea of giving more prominence to the Polish flag. In Cracow, every nation can freely display its flag, without the provision that "it has to be accompanied by the Polish flag," or that "it has to be placed "in submission" to the Polish flag," that is , below. Every nation, in every place on earth, should be free to display its flag in full as a sign of respect, and as an universal endorsement of peace!

Hello All,
Both Jagoda and I have been busy with other projects and like most in the summer, visiting family and friends. We are back working on the new website, which should be up and running in two weeks.
I am half way through importing articles into the content management system and when I can I try to read some of them, both those written by Jagoda as well as people who contributed articles to the website over the years. They are all very interesting and my goal for the new design is to bring them out a bit, and perhaps even, make them quicker to find.
The new website should also make article contributions as easy as click and save.
Hope everyone is having at least a decent, not-too-humid summer this year.
Marek

Marek...obviously you are worth your weight in Platinum. There are probably many articles that are long forgotten or some that we don't know about as they seem to get buried deeply. This will be great. Thanks
