KISS - in my training and development efforts, I, and when I managed a lot of training staff, were much kinder and less rude - we said 'Keep it short and simple' - OK I know it isn't KISAS, but with things like that you have to allow some licence. Leslie (Have any of you been told the other abbreviation, often used on Induction into employment, or an experiential training course - FOFO ?)

That is so funny, Polish and polish. Just shows by example of the complexities of the English language, there is so much memorizing needed. I will never understand why there never were any marks for change of sound. In that manner, the reader would know exactly how to sound the word.
But, we analyze, adapt and use what we have
I still thought that story was funny....

Just a guess FOFO first in first out, that would be FIFO. Then there is LIFO, FILO, etc. all nifty inventory terms. FHLF = first hired, last fired LHFF = last hired, first fired still don't know FOFO ... maybe "First Old Fogey Out"? speaking of whom ... where is he?

As long as we discuss a separate folder instead of creating it, we do orbit in the sphere of THEORY ha ha ha ha. Only if we assume that mushroom picking is 'research' Well, obviously these many sites are wrong. As I said Occam's razor is valid while constructing a scientific theory and - let me put it is a bit simplified manner- serves for choosing the less complicated one out of two or more which, providing the same outcome, are more complicated. The KISS principle is, naturally, a colloquial transposition of Occams Razor, but it was not Occam who said that 'entities shouldn't be multiplied beyond necessity'. Besides that saying has two major faults: who is to decide which entities are neccesary and which are not, and who is to decide what is neccessary and what no more.

Jerzy, thanks for the link. I don't know if the subfolders there are perfect or if there's something missing. However - I did some reading there. Oh boy, you really do some positivist job there! And you've got patience of an angel! Are you an angel, Pawian?

Yes, how well do I understand the European stand, not that it is bad. Situations should be discussed and alternate plans placed into view for close examination for weaknesses and what would be better. Well, sometimes in Europe the situation is discussed too much, perfect alternate plans are being worked out and in the meantime the crisis erupts - and, we look at ourselves in disbelief again: 'what is happening?, we have te to discuss it all over to find the best way out'

Aadam
I see you are a person of experience in these matters, it shows in your excellent manners of view point.
My view points are of a tainted nature, being both of European (German)/American. I try to moderate one of cold intellect (if any) to warmer acceptable presentation.
One principle I have adhered to is:
Leadership-Basic Principal
Leadership is not the ability to tell people what to do. But, leading them to believe they want to do it, and just need direction.
Aadam, yes , the alternate plan or plan,"A" and/or "B". it is an excellent fail safe back up plan.
One of the most efficient manner to solve the wasted time/discussion/decision issue is:
Choose the leader (chief of staff so to speak) before hand, insure he/she has all pertinent (intelligence) information. The leader then to draw up the primary plan; present it to the group for understanding; designate to each faction of minor leadership their single responsibilities to execute their given task, with a time of completion.
Mean while, the leader will draw up a back up plan on his/her own burden of responsibility. Hold it back until full failure is apparent of the primary plan before placing it into effect in the field.
The leader (chief of staff) at this designated time of completion will then fit each individual contribution into a whole. Complete a group briefing of the results of the completed plan. Insuring each to know and understand their individual responsibilities.
The last phase of plan: make it work

Quite interesting... but I voted "no", too. My main fear is that it would turn into a "100 reasons why I hate Russia" folder, despite my best attempts to prevent it. I think discussions about Russia in this forum should continue in the usual format. Besides, I have better places to go to discuss Russia.

And you've got patience of an angel! Are you an angel, Pawian? No, I am not an angel, unfortunately. I would like to be one ("Highway to heaven") to help people more than I do now, but my monkish malice prevents me from being one. I am more like a spiteful baboon, but at least I am aware of it. As for the other forum, I am not sure if you really found me, and not somebody else. I am not patient there because some guys unnerve me, so I answer back and my posts are sometimes not very nice. At least I get a lot of crazy laugh there. Discussions and word games that happen there are really incredible. ha ha ha ha ha ha
