June 12 Blessed Jolenta (Yolanda) of Poland (b. 1235 - d. 1298 - Gniezno)) ...daughter of Bela IV, King of Hungary.and Maria Laskarina. Her sister, St. Kunigunde, was married to the Duke of Poland. Jolenta was sent to Poland where her sister was to supervise her education. Eventually married Boleslaus (1257), the Duke of Greater Poland. Jolenta was able to use her material means to assist the poor, the sick, widows and orphans. Boleslaus joined her in building hospitals, convents and churches so that he was surnamed "the Pious." After the death of Boleslaus(1279) and the marriage of two of her daughters, Jolenta and her third daughter entered the convent of the Poor Clares atSandez . War forced Jolenta to move to another convent (Gniezno) where, despite her reluctance, she was made abbess. Because she served her Franciscan sisters by word and example, her fame and good works continued to spread beyond the walls of the cloister. Her favorite devotion was the Passion of Christ. Indeed, Jesus appeared to her, telling her of her coming death. Many miracles, down to modern times, are said to have occurred at her grave. 1923 - S. Gardenmoma,
the name Jolanta (Yolanta) is very popular in Poland but frankly, I did not know too much about blessed Yolanta. It was nice to know. Do you want me to add it as the article to our website? I would love to do it!
I realy like the idea of the extra information about saints related to Poland. I have only two names for now: Kinga and Barbara - we need more!

Gardenmoma, the name Jolanta (Yolanta) is very popular in Poland but frankly, I did not know too much about blessed Yolanta. It was nice to know. Do you want me to add it as the article to our website? I would love to do it! I realy like the idea of the extra information about saints related to Poland. I have only two names for now: Kinga and Barbara - we need more! Hi Jaga, When I looked up information about Yolanta I found that the two sisters sisters were "Kinga" (the same as of salt mine fame, I believe) which somehow became transposed into "Kunigunde" / "Kundigunda"/ "Cunegunda" and the 2nd "Elizabeth of Hungry." Is she the apronful of bread turning into roses saint? I had never thought of doing these saints in small articles...so perhaps that's what we should do. If we wait for me to do one big article, it might never get finished. Let me "clean" this article up a bit and do a little fact-checking before you post it as an article. What fun! A Family Tree of Polish Saints. I have a photo of a church door in Poland which lays out the saints in a tree-like fashion in bronze. I will find it and crop so that you can use it with the articles. Gardenmoma, I was thinking for some time already about some small hagiography in our website. For a long time I was planning to post the article about Andrew Bobola, an interesting Polish-Ukrainian saint also. You are right Saint Kinga was a sister of blessed Jolanta. So, there is this interesting link between them! We definitively need to write more about them! here is more: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinga_of_Poland
