Sorry, folks (and this includes Republicans): enough is enough! Women and children continue to die in Iraq in large numbers, and this is unacceptable as far as I am concerned! They do not die "because of the war: they die because of entrenched sectarian hate and violence which is not about to go away! The solution: a partition of Iraq! I have been pushing this solution for several years now! If I were President Bush, today, without waiting a second more, I would be asking the UN to issue a temporary ten-year partition between the Shiites and the Sunnis, and a permanent partition for the Kurds! The world cannot wait anymore! The UN should have the wisdom and power, to count the Iraqi on Iraqi deaths, and to say no! The U.S. should never stand on the way to this solution!

At the very least, the U.S. has a moral duty to set Iraq on the right course. Several major campaigns need to get under way. A massive campaign ought to be undertaken to weed out all ethnic animosities. Another campaign ought to focus on thorough rebuilding of the infrastructure. Still another, should revamp the government institutions and education. There is also an urgent need for massive job creation efforts in all provinces. All these campaigns should happen simultaneously, and all should be happening right now, financed by the Iraqis themselves, but having an individual U.S. czar for each! The U.S. role is to make sure that the mentioned campaigns are timely and efficiently undertaken and carried out! The U.S. should not leave this task solely on military shoulders. It is a civil task, a Big Brother type of thing, a moral reaching out with vision, responsibility, and courage. Let's hope that the U.S. is up for this task!
