It is Sunday, and for this reason it's God's time. On such a time, my first wish is for peace in the world. We must try to diffuse this crisis, and I commend President Bush for trying. Russia has yet to exit from Georgia, and let's hope that it happen soon. I don't want any more Russians to die on the way back, or Georgians. For that, the Russians need an exit strategy. Do they have one? Moving a thousand of military vehicles across the treacherous mountains is not an easy feat. This may be why the Russian generals fear to go back. I don't blame them. Their blitz response was so swift, that there was no time for an exit strategy. They are now trying to devise an exit strategy in a hurry. I wish them well. But I wouldn't cry crocodile tears if they leave all equipment behind. The tanks kill, so they might well be destroyed. After all, this whole affair has been misconceived from the start! As for the Russian Plan B, my advice is: repair the damage this vicenda has done in your relations with the West! Peace is what we all want!

Nathanael,
Along with you, I too I hope and pray for peace and that NO ONE dies in the process of withdrawal back to their respective countries.
What I am also praying for, to prevent future flair ups in the area is that a legitimately neutral peacekeeping force moves into the area between the Russian combatants and the Georgians. If that means a neutral buffer zone of a couple of kilometers, so be it. A 1 km territorial loss from both sides for the area is better than the loss of any lives, Georgian. Russian, Ossetian, Abkasian or peacekeeper.
As to the technical aspects of removing equipment, it can be removed as fast as it was emplaced.
