Not having a computer for 5 months is a long time. The computer wasn't broke...I was. I had a major infection which caused me to have part of my right leg amputated. The drs blamed the Diabetes maybe I have to blame myself. Maybe I didn't take care of myself as well as I should have. The drs said the problem was gangrene in the tissues of the foot. Then on top of that, my kidneys were shutting down...just peachy! I just got home the 29th of August. Me & "Stumpy" (my half leg) reside in a wheelchair for now. When I am able to rebuild my strength, become healthier, I will be looking to get an artificial leg. I look forward to the day I can walk again and do the things I use to do like gardening, visiting & playing dominos and continue working on our family history book. Joyce TX

Joyce,
I'm so sorry to hear of your troubles!
I'm also glad you're back and that it sounds like you are recovering well. Keep your good attitude and you will soon be back in the garden.
Many prayers coming your way.....

Welcome back, Joyce!
It sounds like you are happy to be alive and ready to work on making the most of the rest of life. Good luck, and I hope you surprise yourself with your progress.
It is tough to balance out trying to live to an old age yet still use our mortal bodies to the maximum. It sure would be a shame to die in a body that hasn't been fully used and worn out!
Well, keep the spirits up and get back to participating on the board as a periodic distraction from your daily activities.
Kai

Joyce, Welcome back. You were missed here and we didn't know why. God speed on your recovery. Hope you got yourself a good laptop with wireless. You can use it in your wheelchair from anywhere in the house.
Again, it is good to hear from you again.

I thought about getting a laptop-couple years ago, but that would have been considered a luxury item. Now that my desktop pc is aging-altho it still works but a major upgrade is eminent...I know I cannot be without the Internet. I read alot of health information on the net. Our small town local public library falls short with new information. I am happy that when I did get home, the pc booted up. It was unplugged for awhile and was concerned that the battery on the motherboard died.

I went for my first prosthesis fitting today. I stood on a temporary leg and actually walked a few steps. How cool was that!! WAY COOL!

I admire you, with all you have gone through, you have a great attitude and we should learn from you. I'm glad today went well. If you'll pardon the pun; That was a "step in the right direction!"
