Is it ethical to show so much wealth? Who is the elitist here? Here is Cindy McCain during GOP convention Cindy McCain(’s first night of Republican National Convention outfit) Oscar de la Renta dress: $3,000 Chanel J12 White Ceramic Watch: $4,500 Three-carat diamond earrings: $280,000 Four-strand pearl necklace: $11,000-$25,000 Shoes, designer unknown: $600 Total: Between $299,100 and $313,100 Wow. That’s about 60 times the health care credit McCain proposes to give families for a year. And according to Huffington Post, George W. Bush helped cover the expense: According to an analysis by the Center for American Progress Action Fund, the McCains have received $313,413 thanks to George Bush’s tax cut.

everyone knows how rich she is. i dont see a problem with it. its not like she's draped in furs, jewels etc. if she dressed down, someone would point that out too. like she's trying to hide her wealth. and from what i understand she is a charitable person. its what is inside that matters. i think she looks great. if i had those things i'd wear them too.

thanks for your opinion. I do think that since her husband runs for a president she should dress at least like laura Bush to show that she is from the same world he is. Laura Bush dress looks normal, her dress looks extravagant. It may be good for some ocassions, but not for the party convention where her husband wants to show that he is one of us.
They try to present Obama as elitist, but the truth is his upbringing was much more modest than theirs. So, this is simply not fair. Who is the real ellite here?

---Might I suggest of this post response is not of indigenous political interference---but that only of a male sexest, very common of the un-washed fellows of low brow, dirty finger nail typen animalistic Neanderthal. Other wise meaning: A fellow with good eye sight. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well now, I have only one word, and that is {WOW!} this girl is a head turner, this for sure.....
With her money, she may very well dress how ever she wish. Now what is the term {If you have it, flaunt it}...

Do I read a hint of jealousy in your post, Jaga? That does not fit you. I now have more material things than when I was born and, I thank God for that. I am not jealous or envious of those who have more than I do. Having said that, I wish that I had more finances so that I could put up my own Observatory and buy a few RV's and other toys. "Huffington Post"? Isnt that in the same class as Mein Kampf or The Little Red Book (by Chairman Mao). OMG if I read those three masterpieces and believed them I could become jealous or worse too. ;D Uhhhh....wasn't one of the Ten Commandments; "Thou shall not covet thy neighbors goods" ? The Huffington Post is waaaayyyy out there......... I hope some here remember the old saying "don't believe everything you read, and only half of what you see" Mary

well, laura bush does look classic. but weve seen this style on every first lady. cindy has a style of her own. she is not channeling jackie. nor is she trying to be barb bush. she puts a whole new spin on the strand pearl necklace. i like the change and she reflects positively on john mccain. btw jaga...i love your childhood photo. its so sweet.

Jaga et al, The only meaningful item in your post is the claim that the McCains received $313K as a result of the Bush tax cuts. Jaga did you check out the accuracy of the Center for American Progress Action Fund analysis? Now ladies, let's stop with the bitchy, catty remarks. Does what the candidate's wife wears an indication of the candidates competence? Hardly.

Freetobe,
you are right we should never talk about rich being rich, even if they show their wealth publicly. Cindy McCain just show a land of opportunity for all, right?
By the way, she has two half-sisters who did not inherit any of this money she did. One of them is very bitter.

Do I read a hint of jealousy in your post, Jaga? That does not fit you. ;D Hi Bob, you always have a sense of humor I think Cindy looks really great. Really I do. This is a very elegant and beautiful dress. But she looks more like the queen than like a wife of a future president in the democratic country. Especially during economical crisis

Mary, Had you poked any jabs at Michelle Obama, I would have made the same response. What has the candidates wife's wardrobe got to do with the candidates competence? You tell us how it matters. Hope you are not under too much water with the passing of Hanna.

Hope you are not under too much water with the passing of Hanna. Just my kind of humor, trying to lighten it up, as I agree the wardrobe of the candidates wives makes no difference at all. It's so petty and a ridiculous subject. (Not under water, NW PA has been pretty dry lately..... )

;D ;D Kai, If I had $250,000 for that diamond, I then could afford all those "toys" I want. ;D ;D LOL Jaga, Jealousy cost too much in wasted energy. Maybe I can win a lottery or something like that. Sorry I don't have any rich family members near death, so I'll just have to wish for some good luck. ;D ;D LOL
