Yes I remember...what were you doing when you first heard of the tragic news? I was surfing on the net and husband called from work- telling me to turn on the tv news. As I did, I saw the first plane do its damage. Staying glued to the tv, alike many millions of people saw the second plane. Then heard of the Pentagon incident, found out later on that a friend's sailor son died. We will never forget! A moment of prayer.....

When this event took place, I was part of a Yahoo group-called Navymoms. Our son was on a sub. One of the ladies who was in the group lost her sailor son. As a tribute to her and Dan, we moms made a quilt-each of us sewing or hand decorating a square for the quilt. When it was all sewn together, it was mailed to her.
As I watched the Memorial services on tv this morning, tears started to leak outta my eyes. When a bag pipe player played Amazing Grace, I lost it -meaning the tears were streaming down my face...aw shucks, get the tissues.

I just hope that if the political candidates show up at "ground zero" I hope they have the common sense and decency to stay on topic and NOT turn this into a campaign venue.

I had taken the day off of work because I had a new bedroom set being delivered. I had the TV on, but wasn't paying attention.
Then I heard someone saying a plane hit a building. I got to the TV just to see the second plane hit the towers.
Thats when I, and I think most people knew it was no accident.

I was on the Long Island expressway headed to Manhattan whe the first report cme on the car radio that a plane had struck the WTC. Shortly after the next report of another plane hitting the second tower. I continued along to the City as I had an appointment for a surgical procedure and was not yet aware of the magnitude of the attack and disaster. As I neared the City I was passed by cars with emergency lights flashing and ambulances roaring by. all were emergency personnel responding. On the Midtown expressway, which is an elevated highway leading to the Mid Town tunnel, traffic was at a standstill. I could see the WTC towers ablaze and smoking. As I watched, the South Tower imploded and collapsed. Needless to say I did not make my appointment. I was in some kind of shock for days afterward. So scary, a USN destroyer doing sentry duty in LI Sound at an oil tanker offloading station close to my home, F 16's and the Air National Guard flying security missions over the area. I knew one young woman who worked at the TC who never came home from work that day. Her Mother never recovered from the loss.

You could have been right in the middle of it all. It sounds like you were still too close for comfort. Many innocent people lost their lives or loved ones that day.
