There are rumors that the Administration is getting more understanding with North Korea. What can I say. I fought tooth and nail to instill some common sense in this debate, urging the State Department to understand, that North Korea has suffered enough indignities, and that it was time to reward her for blowing up the cooling tower! I found the Administration's refusal to lift the sanctions on North Korea myopic and unconscionable not because I am a North Korea lover, but because I am what I consider to be a smart human! So if it is true that sanctions will be lifted, I can only say: the sooner, the better ... now!

May also in time, the miracle of South Korea, but added to that of North Korea. Karl

Gee, it seems to work! We stop calling them dirty names, we talk to them, and they make a concession or two we can live with. Maybe talking to people without pre-conditions is worth considering! It may even be cheaper than war.

Another piece of advice regarding the North, to the South. All countries should be part of the solution as far as the global economic crisis. Each country, though, should adapt the response to its particular situation. In case of South Korea, it would be wise to devote as much as 30 billion to aiding North Korea. It wouldn't be charity, but pure common sense. The North is an ideal trade partner to the South ... but also the cause for unnecessary military expenditures. A 30 billion would immediately spur the South Korean growth, while representing a quantum step toward peace! When economy sputters, it is always wise to kill two ducks with one shot!
