and by the way it killed some other bystanders. THE US NEVER EXPLAINED ITS ACTIONS. can you imagine the opposite situation - what if Syria would enter US territory to kill its enemy and then kill some other people in the process? Jaga What you have brought forward as a truth that I do not believe many folks {American} understand or wish to know of their country. America is a gentle giant in the home land. It is of the people, and for the people {Americans}. But off the homeland. It is {might makes right} with foreign policy. Whilst in business, Americans are good and faithful business partners and over the years, have prospered will. With the path of economics, there have been a few bumps as realized of this year, and with this, our banks {German} have placed at disposal, a considerable shared risk with the American banking system, at considerable peril to ours. But, this is part and partial in business life. For many years of past, America brought to us, a miracle of post war assistance and {Berlin Air Lift withthe candy airplanes} that is not forgotten. It is, I would suppose, our way of speaking {Thank You, and now it is our turn to help out}. Please to understand, I am not critical {well perhaps a bit} of America. But, it is so powerful of giant, that even the tip-toe becomes very big steps and our earth tremors with each and every step. The above is not justification of the Syrian Operation, but only as an explanation of the general feelings on my side of the Atlantic. Perhaps with the Syrian Operation taken solely on by the Americans. It should be remembered of many years past, of the flawed intelligence information obtained in my country by the American CIA. This was obtained by some of our very over zealous sparsely experienced young civil service employees. They took as total truth from an Iraqi defector of the Saddam regime, an outlandish exaggeration of biological and nuclear weapons programme in currant operation in Iraq. Then passed this information onto Central Intelligence Agency employees as truth. None of the information was verified by either agencies as of normal practice. So, now once with fingers burnt, the Americans are not to take that path again, but to do their work them selves. The above is only a part of the puzzle. For Syria is not only an enigma to the American war in Iraq, it is a hands off situation. For one needs to remember that Syria is on the American list of disgrace. An embargo has been in place for some many years. In as such, it is not practical to ask of Syria of favours. In light of the past and currant situation of conflicts of interest between Syria and Israel, not so well for American pursuit of vested interest to involve Syria. The last: For some many many years, the Middle East, has been host to interest of my country with many exchanges in favours. A favour given, a favour received. With this, is the relative safety of German employees living and working in Syria/Iran and Turkey. It would have been a laborious process to co-ordinate this type of operation through our field offices to Syrian offices of responsibility, then back once again to the Americans. Time lost, time wasted. So, it was obvious and logical for the Americans to conduct their own operation on their own account. It is best summarized as of this farmer experience: {If you have a pig to butcher, for why ask another to kill a pig you own.} Karl

Karl,
I think a person need to live in different countries like you and me to understand how complex the world is. I wish countries like the US and Russia especially - since they have more influence, tried to be more objective and honest in their actions.
