President-elect Barack Obama intends to pursue a Mideast peace policy that calls on Israel to revert to its pre-1967 borders in return for official diplomatic recognition by the Arab world.
A senior Obama adviser told the London Times that Obama will throw his support behind a 2002 Saudi peace initiative that also has been endorsed by Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, the Arab League, and Israeli President Shimon Peres.
Under the plan:
Israel would be able to veto the return of Arab refugees expelled in 1948.
Israel would restore the Golan Heights to Syria.
Palestinians would be allowed to establish a state capital in east Jerusalem.
According to the senior adviser, Obama has said privately that Israel would be "crazy" to reject such a plan, since it would "give them peace with the Muslim world."

For only of a few comments in respect to prospectives of Mr. Obama with his proposed peace backing of the 2002 Saudi proposal.
In as much of the spokesman, that of Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. This man is a very learnt man and a gifted spokesman, it is little wonder he would be chosen by his Arab brethren for this task.

For they Arab leadership know very well of the past to recent embargo placed by the American leadership some long past of Syria. And not of forgotten, of past and present dis-satisfactionary relationship with Iran.
These offer as proposed to Israel is for all purposes, a gilded dead horse being passed off as show horse, or to place into better terms: A deal comprised as for the table as a gift, a large portion of mold bread covered lavishly with honey.
For one thing, high on the wish list of Syria and surrounding countries that boarder {The Golan Heights} would be a tragedy, for one, the boarder has been established since of the 6 day war. At present, has been settled by numerous family people. For once that boarder is moved, those people are then residing in a different country that may or may not be hostile to them. To mention of the least, those dis-bordered people, will be require to leave, and to go where?
The other aspect of the Golan Heights is: It is a strategic location over-looking of {The Huleh Valley} This valley is one of the most fertile agricultural lands in Israel and location of the Shaaba Farms.
palestinefacts.org/pf_1991to_now_shaaba_farms.phpAnd, one of the most dangerous areas. For during the war with Syria, it was very common practice for the Syrian military to use this site for artillery sighting of a very large area of the valley below. And very difficult for the Israelis IDF To defend against.
palestinefacts.org/pf_current_golan.phpWith the now present situation of Iranian completion of its nuclear programme, Israeli leadership would wish nothing more then for a demise of Syrian support of Iran leaving in-self. An open window of opportunity for Israeli airstrike for destruction of this perceived threat. This inself, would then accomplish the wishes of American desires with Israel completing the dirty work and similarly, remove any semblance of world commendation of guilt placed in their direction {American}.
The other aspect of this as a situation if perchance Israel were to agree with the {Arab Peace Initiative of 2002}, is to understand the Arab mind-set. The Arabs enjoy the challenge, and do love winning {but do not we all} but to the Arab, to win over all over their adversaries, is good, unless the win is too easy, then their is no glory, and with out the glory, there is not prestige.
In the case of winning with these concessions over Israel, will be with out honour. And with out honour, will come hate and retaliation with a war to regain that lost honour. It is the Arab way.
You must bear in mind of the Arab mind set: For the Arab, they are true to their Allah in all that is Islam. But the Jews and the Christians, have turned away from the true God and a being stiff necked as they are. Are to be despised.
The other: Arabs are gifted traders, for they have perfected this skill over many years beyond of our records, and they have not lost this skill but honed it with modern tools of education. For the most part, many of their business people learnt their skills in the American schools.
The question stands: {Should Israel revert to the pre-1967 borders?
My personal and heartfelt response is: {Absolutely Not}. In this difference, the Israelis would be very smart to declare to the Arabs, they will recognize the Arabs as a people under only the conditions they behave them selves.
And then, {leave it to an Arab to argue} but, this is the Arab mindset, they will think and chew upon this with some working of their worry beads. But, the Arabs are not different then other people, they must be to have some gifts in their direction to sweeten any deal. For this, it then would place the burden into the lap of the Israeli.
In the Middle East, there is a very old, and very valid point that will make the difference between the present living who will become shortly the dead. Or the living that have learnt this land and shall live on.
It is this: {You either have the table, or you will be on the menu}
