His history was memoriced in the poem by Slowacki, a great Polish poet.

Wayne, I did not even know that Mauritius was named after our Beniowski. Thanks for reminding us. The unusual but extinct bird, Dodo, was found there. There is also a new information about Mauritius updated after the recent hotel terroristic attack: A Mauritian National ID was found on one of the terrorists responsible for the November 2008 Mumbai attacks, after he was neutralized in the Taj Mahal Hotel.
