Where was established the first petroleum mine in the world? Most probably in Bóbrka, Poland, Podkarpacki Region.

Jaga,
We talked about this once before, several years ago I guess. Time flies and it is hard to imagine measuring participation on this forum in years!
It is fascinating to me because we never hear of the oil in Galicia / Poland in our western history. I suppose it does qualify as rather regional. We never hear of the major oil fields that were developed in Romania other than when we hear the Americans did their best to bomb Ploesti to cut off Germany's oil supply in WWII.
Thanks for mentioning it again. Is it a peculiarity of the Polish language that you talk of 'mining' oil? In the US we always talk about drilling for it, or perhaps with the Saskatchewan oil sands we refer to mining ...

As for only of a thought. I think perhaps the use of {mining} in relationship to oil, is a natural condition of use of terms.
Might I perhaps conduct a bit of explanation before becoming stoned down and tossed into the pit of fire.
In very early days of oil exploration. The miners technique was employed for as in this case. The technique, was for the miners to hand dig with shovel and pick. To then use as of their knowledge, construct the whole as square of then: 1.2x 1.2 meter square whole, this then lined as normal of mine, with walls of wooden beam wood for strength. The wholes then, were usually dug down to a mean depth of between 15 meteren and 60 meteren. For at this depth, breathing become a problem.
Then, with the advance of technology, the use of kinetic percussion methods of drilling was employed, as what appears to be the case as exampled here. For with this method, a tower would be needed for support of the mechanism of percussion drilling. The pilot hole of first initiated, then the head with steel collar to hold in place the steel driving spike, above this, the driven member of inner steel pipe, this in turn is encased with a steel outer diameter pipe. As all travel together to the required depth, the inner pipe, driving rod with bit, is raised out of the well leaving behind the outer casing for well integrity.
The oil was then removed by pumping action.
This similar technology is in currant use for the manner of water well exploration. It is relatively in-expensive, with use of portable equipment transported upon a heavy motor freight vehicle.
The conditions most favourable for use of this technology, is of the strata being not of capped by hard igneous rock or shale. For this then requires of usual, a rotary drill apparatus.
