While looking for something else I came upon this information. I thought some of you might be interested in the following: From: The Writer's Almanac at Public Radiowritersalmanac.publicradio.org/I believe we've discussed this writer before on this Forum, but am unable to find the discussion and link to it. More about her and her works can be found at this site: www.kirjasto.sci.fi/szymbor.htmGM :

GM,
thanks for reminding of Wislawa Szymborska. She is very well known in Poland but the fact that she was selected to receive a Nobel price was also a bit of teh surprise for us.
I like her poems, I have some of her poems translated also into English.

Jaga, I just happened on this thread and saw the "Szymborska" name. I have several of her books: Poems New and Collected has her poems from 1957-1997 translated in English, SOUNDS, FEELINGS, THOUGHTS: SEVENTY POEMS: Has her poems in English on one side and Polish on the other, and another VIEW WITH A GRAIN OF SAND has selected poems all translated into English. She is one of my favorites. Happy Birthday to her. Linda Prez
