I'm so glad I found this website. I grew up in Dearborn MI, in a more modern polish family. I say that because my Busi and parents, followed many of the polish traditions on holidays, but yet they were also modern and American. So if I get a tradition wrong, please forgive me but also correct me! I'm here to learn. Recently, my Aunt Jo passed. She left two letters that were written to her in 1982, in polish, from a lady that my mother says was my grandmothers cousin, although I believe she may have been the daughter or granddaughter of my grandmother's cousin because my grandmother passed in 1962. However, what this has done is spark a new interest in learning more about my heritage and perhaps, with the help of the internet, find someone from this family and correspond with them to learn more. I'm also happy to say I'm 100% polish so I will have double the fun of learning about Poland, my relatives from there on both sides of my family. Thank you for reading. I hope to be on this board frequently asking questions and learning. I'll also be in the chat rooms when possible. Genevieve

Hi Genevieve,
welcome to the forum! I could help you to translate the letters after I will come back from Poland. But if you can scan the letters maybe somebody else could help?
Please, stay with us!

Barnsma sounds like a Frisian (North-Dutch and North-German) name, but it is probably your nickname. I hope that there are some people that can help you with your Polish roots on this Forum!
Welcome!
Pieter
