The winter in the Netherlands is no way near the North-American! Yes, it is cold, it is white with snow, and we will have heavy snowfall in the weekend. But we have a small country, which is heavily desnsley populated, with a large infrastructure on a small territory! People gather, food, water, buyb thermo underwear, use extra blankets and heave very good isolated, double glass houses and isolated walls which keep the warmth. It is a cold winter though in the Dutch perspective with it's usual, weak, wet winters with rain and wind. As a nation of ice scaters many people hope the freezing temperature will continue for weeks so the the famous eleven city tour in Friesland might happen again: One the map: www.elfstedentocht.nl/nl/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FrieslandThe Netherlands in 1985: Friese elfstedentocht / Eleven cities tour

Nicetoe, The Netherlands could be landlocked if the North sea freezes! In the Netherlands, icebreakers have been deployed to clear shipping routes such as the Twente canal, the harbours of Almelo and Enschede and the Ijsselmeer inland sea. Pieter
