The controversial group Islam4UK has been banned by the home secretary.
Alan Johnson said he did not take the decision lightly, but that the group would be added to the proscribed list on Thursday.
Under the Terrorism Act 2000, a group can be banned if it "commits or participates in acts of terrorism, prepares for, promotes or encourages terrorism or is otherwise concerned in terrorism".
Glorifying the commissioning or preparation of acts of terrorism can also earn a ban.The group recently decided against carrying out a march in Wootton Bassett. www.politics.co.uk/speakers-corner/issue-of-the-day/legal-and-constitutional/islam4uk-ban-$1352724$1352724.htm
