France has deported a radical imam to Egypt. The imam is accused of inciting visitors to mosques in the Paris suburbs to violence against the West. The authorities say that he is the 29th imam to be deported from France since 2001.
France is taking tough measures to prevent new rioting in the suburbs of Paris. The worst incidents took place in 2005, when gangs of youths took to the streets, fighting the police for days on end.
A draft bill has been unveiled in France by its ruling party proposing penalties for Muslim women covering their faces. The law would fine anyone wearing a Burqa or Niqab in public 750 euro.
