Charles, today there are some great meds for depression, e.g., Lexapro and Pamelor. Ask your doctor. Carl Thank you carl Yes, I have been the route with the doctors. It is a treatment, but not a cure. What I have come down to is: Being very careful of recognizing the symptoms, and using caution and vitamins {stay off all booze} until it lets up. Keep a positive frame of mind and positioning my inner self as the control. This will sound like that of crazy I know and understand. But, we must each know our selves, before we may understand that of others. Some years back, hypertension coupled with depression was killing me. I was loaded with back and heavy chest pain in the heart area. It was frightening, and the doctor wished only to give medicine to lighten the symptoms. Now, I am to detail some thing I know that will work, as I have applied it long ago. You mind controls your body, your body will function in the manner of direction that is given to it by the mind. Now then, there are autonomic functions of the body that work on their own {such as your heart and your breathing}. To save my self, this is what I applied: This took a manner of two weeks. I placed my self in an area of non-contact or interference from out side forces. Then, learned to concentrate. This involves total concentration, nothing else matters on the earth, you feel no heat/cold or hear noises. You begin with total concentration of your inner body beginning from the very top of the head. In your mind is all that your body is composed of physically. Your hair, down through the neck, all the muscles, bones, veins arteries, down and down, once at any time a loss of concentration is found, then begin all over once more until you reach the very tip of your toes. This is not the end, no. You begin and work up until you have the ability to reach the very top of the hair on your head. It takes time. I am slow, and this process took me about two weeks. But, I was over my hypertension and depression for a very long time. It is difficult. Once though, you have this training, it is much more easy to begin once more in the case of a return of these symptoms. If we each truly believe, then, we will.{a very simple but complexity of our mind and body} For example, a drowning man, if he/she believes they will truly drown, then most likely they will. It is our intrinsic belief system that gives us strength and our courage, is what we have or developed. Charles

Charles, you are correct. At best, meds are only great as a stop-gap emergency measure and it is self-help that works best. A person might try using booze to fix the problem but, after the booze runs out, the problem is till there and not resolved. Good luck and our prayers are with you. Don't forget St. Jude, patron of lost causes.

Charles, I agree on the limitation of meds, but they often relieve suffering. I wouldn't disregard them. Carl
