My friends in Poland congratulated me on Democratic win, but not all in Poland was very happy about it. But - generally in Europe the consensus is that the elections giving more power to other party are good for the check and balances in the US. Not one party controls everything.PARIS, Nov. 9 -- For Europe and much of the rest of the world, U.S. voters' repudiation of the Bush administration in midterm elections Tuesday and the dismissal of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld on Wednesday confirmed the widespread view that President Bush and his policies have done more to tarnish America's image abroad and strain its global relations than any other U.S. president in recent history. The Socialist Group in the European Parliament, the legislative body's second-largest voting bloc, called the election results "the beginning of the end of a six-year nightmare for the world." The seismic political shift in the United States was greeted in many places less with jubilation than with a sense of relief that Americans had at long last come to their senses. ... www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/11/09/AR2006110901780.html

This is a good litmus test for voting: If it makes France, Germany and Russia happy, then it is a mistake for the USA. These countries do not wish good things for the USA, so if it makes them happy, it must certainly be to our detriment. Voting couldn't be simpler ;D

Guys,
I do not understand. First of all the worst American enemy is not France, Germany and Russia but extreme islam, right? Second of all France, Germany and Russia are not happy because something bad happened to America but because there is finally a BALANCE OF POWER. Hopefully, this administration and congress would start a better dialoque with the rest of the world. Not the type of dialogue which was earlier - that America is the strongest country in the world and we are ALWAYS RIGHT.
Don't you think that for the RIGHT balance of power it is good when America's government is not only run by one party?

France has never support America in 200 years. And America is not always right just as not other country is always right. We will how the dialogue goes with other nations in the future. But for domestic America I don't think Higher taxes is good we will see. I do think a balance of power is good. But the media, most of them in the US, are pro liberal so you get a distorted view of the American peoples view of what it going on. Wait and see how things fall out.

Guys, Democrats are not the enemies in America and the fact that European countries (not only France but even people in Poland congratulated me on elections) are glad that there is a balance in power does not mean that they are against America.
America, the United States of America needs to colaborate with other countries rather that pretend that this is the only righteous superpower surrounded by enemies. I think, everybody agrees on that!
To pretent that America is always right and so called "rest of the world" is wrong is just a nonsense.
