In October, members of Poland’s parliament will be able to take a crash course in English language and EU law.
The course aims to prepare MPs for the EU six-month presidency which the county will assume on 1 July 2011.
English lessons for Polish MPs are a must as many foreign delegations will be received in the Parliament and not many Polish lawmakers can speak foreign languages.
“Fine feathers make fine birds. During the Polish presidency the eyes of the whole Europe will be set on us and we can’t fail,” says Jerzy Budnik from Civic Platform, somewhat cryptically.
English lessons for Polish MPs will not be compulsory but recommended. Members of Parliament will learn specialist terminology useful in every day work. The MPs will also take a crash course on EU law and policy, which will last until June 2011
