I always wanted to visit Lithuania since it was a part of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. For several centuries. Poland and Lithuania were united in one kingdom, they joined together in face of Teutonic knights danger in 1395. First they were linked through the personal union (the same King), later the Commonwealth was created (1569). It is hard to imagine but Polish- Lithuania Kingdom was the biggest state in Europe, Lithuanian part was much bigger than Polish part in that time since it contained also a large territory of present Belarus and Ukraine.
If you are interested to teach English in Lithuania and visit beautiful Curonian Spit (Peninsula) and Vilnius please check:

Vilnius has still many historical churches/cemeteries and the university which remember Polish times. It is a multi-cultural city, almost everybody there speaks Polish, Lithuanian and Russian languages. It is a beautiful town built mainly in the Gothic style and a capital of free Lithuania. Lithuania became free in 1991, earlier it was one of the Soviet republics.

Lech Walesa Visits Washington During Solidarity's 25th Anniversary

There were two celebrations ? the official one organized by present Solidarity establishment, which is closely related to PIS ? Polish political party ruled by Jaroslaw Kaczynski, twin brother of ex-president Lech Kaczynski who died in the airplane catastrophe in April. Another celebration was organized by Lech Walesa in Gdansk. Unfortunately due to political reasons current Solidarity movement does not get along with Lech Walesa as well as the current Polish prime-minister and new president. Donald Tusk, current prime-minister and Komorowski represent another Polish party, Citizens Platform (PO). It is sad that the Solidarity movement is divided according to political views and they do not accept Lech Walesa anymore as their honorary leader..
Poland just like the US is becoming very polarized according to the party lines.
