My father, Mietek Zipser, and Uncle Zbysz, were flight engineers on 304 Squadron. They were from Lwow and entered England in 1940 through Blackpool. Initially stationed at RAF Newton & Syerston. Named Wellington bomber SONIA after my mother. Dog mascot was called Chappie. I am heritage tourism consultant and would like to initiate some day coach trips next year 2011 for Polish descendent families wishing to visit Newton, Syerston & others in EMids. Would like to hear of anyone/family who remembers the Zipsers (based Nottingham) and whether you would be interested in such memorial trips? My father & uncle went on to build their Zipser Motors business at Trent Bridge Nottingham for 50 years employing many squadron engineers. Rover car specialists! Many thanks. Marysia Zipser, West Bridgford, Nottingham.

Chappie,
I have written a tribute to the men of 304 Squadron (I can direct you to a copy on the Internet if you are interested) and your father and uncle have a place in it by right. I also have a thread on this forum dedicated to 304 Squadron in the Polish People and Polish History section. I have a photo of the crashed S for Sonia and I have seen a photo of the mascot Chappie. Unfortunately I have only the dates of birth and death of your uncle; your father is a totally new name to me. If you can help me with information and especially photos, I will happily include them.
You can contact me via the forum or by email; you can find my email address in the members section.
Neville
