Well, it really wasn't a Chinese birthday party, but we ate Chinese food and a scumptious chocolate cake for desert! And I got your attention, didn't I ;D This is one of the items that has been taking up my time...my husband celebrated a significant birthday recently. I wanted to have a surprise party for him, so arranged to have it done at a local Chinese restaurant - one of the best ever. The restaurant is owned and operated by one of my husband's former students who could not find a job in Plant Physiology when he earned his PhD! Now, the fellow owns his own farm and grows wonderful vegetables for the restaurant as well as ships them in to Boston; has a commercial bean sprout germinator and sells the sprouts to grocery stores along the East Coast; is still a farmer at heart! The honored guests were a select bunch of old friends and one of our children with his family - the two girls were a little too far away this year. Here are some pictures: Husband with 5-yr-old granddaughter opening her birthday card. Cutting that wonderful cake! Friend, husband, Chinese friend, Gardenmoma. Resoltuion on the second photo is poor because my son took it across a very long table. However, it is better than nothing. BTW, I left my spectacles on when I cut the cake, and they slipped almost to the end of my nose...hence the reflection. Gm
