I recently purchased a cook book titled: German Cooking by Marianna Olszewska Heberle Great recipes in it. About the Author: Marianna Olszewska Heberle grew up in the Eastern Europe near the Russian border, where she was influenced by the cooking and cultures of Poland, Germany, Russia, Hungary and Chechoslovakia. Now lioving in Pennsylvania, with her husband and three daughters, she specializes in ethnic cooking particularly foods of Germany and Poland. If you get a chance peruse it. I think you'll be surprised.

JJ...I see a recipe in there for semolina dumplings. My friends mother made those many times when I was in Germany and served it in this fantastic beef broth made from little bones with marrow. Maybe you can post the dumpling recipe. Sometimes she made the bread dumplings also. I loved those too. My favorite was her German potato salad. It was basically potatoes with onions and a (white)vinegar dressing and looks white not like the one served herethat looks brown (probably d/t adding bacon) She usually made that daily with each meal. Along with cucumber salad. No matter how hard still can't replicate here. Was not to crazy about the raddi salad.
