Do you know how to interpret the actions and words of other people in foreign lands? Here is a test of some of the things a person would find handy to know. Unfortunately this is in German, so perhaps only Jaga & Charles can join in. There is another, more comprehensive test about proper behavior in very formal social circumstances. I will have to find that link and post it. I believe I lucked out at getting 16 of 22 right inthat one! Try this for fun www1.spiegel.de/active/reisequiz/fcgi/reisequiz.fcgiKai

I haven't gotten to the first test yet but on the second, I scored a gar nicht schlecht , so, not too bad. At least nothing I did was a major faux pas!

I did the first point right (about Pole) but my German is getting worse and I would need more time to accomplish the rest OK, I did the rest, I guess, I am not the best, could answer correctly 50%

Thanks for giving it a try. It was a challenge, and all of the vocabulary is not what is encountered every day, nor some of the hair-splitting decisions to be "correct".
But it is fun and educational!

Kai, Do you still have the link for the quiz about table manners? I have tried to find it for this group (they would FAIL!) but I cannot ....

Did I have a link on Table Manners? I try to maintain a link with the real thing and sometimes get away with it, but the idea of being polite and tossing the chicken bones behind you instead of across the table isa s far as I have progressed.
What was the question?
Kia ;-)

Pieter I add my Sto Lat from just across the water (and a little bit of land!) and Wszystiego najlepszego z okazji urodzin! (I think this is the way to say 'Happy Birthday'). Keep on with your interesting posts Leslie

Yup, you did. table manners around the world. Posted on Bella some months ago. We all failed the question for Poland, it was something about fish. AHH, in my humility I forgot that I am such a conisour of good manners! So I still have to learn to eat fish Polish style.... My family poaches them out of the Poprad before they can descend (or after they have ascended from) to Poland. Does that mean that SLovaks eat younger or smarter fish than the Poles do? Kai ;->

[/quote] Nancy 1) You father's joke - much as I might feel sorry for him as a father, 2) I have just realised what I have done - I blame it on this new system with threads all over the place (that's my excuse anyway - but I did vote against separate ones). However, I shall try to behave in the future. Leslie
