Today my wife cooked salmon patties for the family. In the US we just mixed canned salmon with bread crumbs, onion, and cream of mushroom soup. Well we could not find cream of mushroom soup here so we made it with dried mushrooms, sour cream, water, muchrom bullion, fried onions and flour to thicken. Came out great and everyone loved it

10/21 Jim... Sounds better the "Polish" way - canned soup tastes too salty for me these days Another simple idea for making the patties...when you don't feel like fussing with the mushrooms and sour cream. Vary the amts of ingredients to your taste as well as how much salmon you have to use. I use either canned salmon or fresh, left over from grilling: finely chopped onions or onion powder (not onion salt!) one to two eggs (moistetner and protein will help serve as binder) enough milk / cream to moisten (again protein serves as binder) dry (unseasoned) breadcrumbs and /or oatmeal (I like a little of both) Some ground dill weed (leaves and young stems) not seeds! Mix all well, and then mix well with flaked salmon. Brown lightly in fry pan. Top with cream sauce if desired - dill, mushroom, etc. When I am at my daughter's I use her Crusinart to mix...this is easier on my hands, but makes a very finely textured patty. here at home I mix ll ingredients either with a whisk or in the blender and then add bread crumbs, oatmeal and flaked salmon by hand with a flexible spatula or bare hands. Enjoy! Yum! ;D
