We have been on the farmer fair today. There is a lot of food there which is not really seen in the stores and restaurants during everyday life - for instance funnel cake: it was delicious. We ate it with strawberries and cream

we also saw Polish chickens: groups.msn.com/PolishChickensbut we did not eat them by the way, there was also another delicious sweet treat there - it looked like a long piece of bread or rather pita, it was covered with brown sugar. My husband stated that this was a type of scone - I thought it had "Tiger ..." in the name

I've seen a long pastry (sometimes vanilla and chocolate dough, braided together) called a Tiger Tail. Well, anyway, I'm sure it was good!

Love those "Polish" chickens. Leslie got quite interested in them when we posted about the frazzled type (is that what it is called?) I wonder if he has done his research on them yet?

Susanne,
thanks. I thought about the tiger tail but this is not the right recipe. This one is a long pastry but it looks a bit different - I need to ask a friend we were with. I thought the name was like tiger eye but I cannot find anythig under this name.

Nancy I've found out that some of the types are actually bred in UK, so I've made a note about places I have to avoid. Some of them scare the living daylights out of me, interesting though they very much are (thinking about it, that makes them like women!). Hope all goes well with you Leslie

Ok, I think I figured our what this delicious food was. It is usually called "elephant ear" but in our fair it was called "tiger air" because it is somehow related to a scount organization for boys and girls in Teton area. Here is how this food looked like:
