OK I like well-prepared flaki and also in the best form. You know the Scottish dish 'Haggis' which consists of lights boiled in a sheep's stomach. Again when done well, this I like. It is traditionally eaten once a year on the 'Burns' Night' in honour of Rabbie Burns I don't think I've come across 'kwaœnie mleko' - what is this dish? When I first joined this forum, Nancy and Jaga will tell you how bored I was of the excessive amount of talk about food - now I'm right in the middle of it!! Leslie Well, I think it is because your'e slowly becoming an even more Polish Anglik Kwaœne mleko = zsiad³e mleko. The Angliks call it spoiled (rotten milk), the wild Slavs it* it with potatoes and sigh 'pycha' (yummy) Edition: I meant *eat it

Well, two out of three ain't bad I suppose. My weekend aspirations, cooking wise were to to make babka, pick apples, and make barszcz czerwony. This, worked in around all the other necessary activities. Well, moving my daughter in with my sister (for the school week: my sister lives 4 minutes from the college my daughter is attending, vs the 1.5 hour one way commute from here), and all the other chores conspired to prevent the barzcz preparation. Perhaps one evening this week. So here's the other two ventures: We already cut up one bag of apples (as well as giving a few away)... bochenek babka trzy piękne torby jabłek Well, nothing ever works out exactly as planned.

The Baba looks wonderful And I noticed the stein of beer in the background. Well...we managed to get all of our food related activities finished...pumpkin cake was very good and I will post that recipe - probably tomorrow. Husband enjoyed his pork roast, masjed potatoes, kraut, etc. We are eating the peaches out-of-hand; apples will be eaten out-of-hand and also made into apple cake. And yes...the kitchen was a mess even though I clean as I go... GM

I just made cabbage rolls with a tomato sauce including some dried mushroom brought back from Poland. Now back to the normal routine at work.

All you guys, to make me so hungry Gm: Apple cake! Ymmmmm, always so moist and melts in the mouth! And pork roast with apple sauce, {there goes my waist line once again!} piwo: Your delicious bread, with apple slices and beer! Nancy: You have it, this for sure: Apple sauce, Apple Crispt{Yummmmmm} and cider! {gooooood} Jim: {and welcome back } Cabbage rolls: with apple sauce. That is so good.... bujno: I am very confident you have some thing very delicious, but unfortunate, I do speak any Polish {just not a good linguist}. Leslie: Haggis is most likly very good, it is unfortunant for my self most likly to have a run in with some badly prepared Haggis on the one time I tried it......I with certain, never knew it was created in honour of Robbie Burns. I know he must have been famous for valour to have such an honour bestowed upon him with the naming of a very famous food dish. Chris {RDY}: Yessss on Zuchinni bread! That is so good and with fried cabbage, potatoes and pork roast with apple sauce, yess! Harvest time is such wonderful time of the year as nature gives up what is planted of all the good things to eat. And the clothing manufactures have automatic customers to replace the sizes next up for clothing that no longer fits. But, who cares! Charles

Zupa - is just like in the huge thread in this same section - 'Zupa szczawiowa'. A soup, zuppa, Soup, zupa. Ogorkowa is - Gurken, cucumber. I tyle - That's it

Piwo, I though that it is the apple tart? It probably is, But when you make them a little bigger, make them round, and call them pizza, your kids will try them without hesitation! I'm not sure if it's exactly an apple tart, as the cheese is "American" cheese, and a tart usually has a different type of cheese, like in "cheese cake". But all in all, it is just another name for a type or tart.

The Polish forum has and is, a location of enjoyment to be with friends. The folks here have offered and shown the hospitality and their friendship to me. I inturn have tried in my manner to return to them also of my self. There times though, in spite of meaningful intentions, I do fall down, as may of been noticed between that of Leslie and my various misunderstandings. Leslie is a gentleman, by his nature and as his trade mark in life, For my self, I do thank the goodness that he so is. My knowledge of languages as you know, are limited. My Russian from my early days whilst on some Russian ice breakers {post war, I think} was just enough to keep the wolf of hunger and fear at bay. French is minimal, just enough to read the menue and street signage. Some long time past, I had belonged to a German Forum only until it become a bit to much of a problem. The Russian forum {I think it is called: The new Russian Forum} is a cauldron of anti German/American/Polish and what ever. It is just plain tension and I do not need that typen of irritation. I am a war child of time 1940. My life has been survived through from early age to adulthood, with lies and falseness through adult hood. A paper trail that was evident, but, would lead no where. Children of my time period were doomed with the mistakes of our elders. We do know though of what they have done. We or some of us were just by the luck of a draw, were saved from the worse of death, by circumstances of that, even I am not sure of even to this presence. Still today, carefulness is the habit. With a past of nothing, a little is much, with the blessing of a friend, a few, becomes many. Money is gained and lost, as it is only money. Friend ships are life, far more precious then gold, to have even of a few, this is more then we should ever dare to cherisch { and as so, do I cherisch my friends here, and you are one of them}. This was some thing that needed to be said, and so have said it. Charles

Charles Thank you for all the things you said in your last posting and the way you laid open your heart and mind to us publicly. I found your account VERY interesting with your experiences in so many different avenues (and even back lanes) of life. I think we are fortunate to have you on the forum - it is the Russian forum's loss. But for heaven's sake, don't start going nice on me - I would miss the mental kicks in the pants you give me, making me think up a telling response!! Leslie
